Haunted by a lifetime of mysterious memory lapses, Ana finds herself starting life afresh as the new librarian of a girls school in Denver. For reasons she cant explain, she has been drawn to this place of mountainous beauty, where her head pounds with a recurring image of an island she cant recall ever having visited. Because work and music seem to bring her comfort, Ana takes a second job singing at weddings. Then one day she gets a call from the celebrated architect, Pierce Rourke, requesting her for an event on his private island. Upon her arrival, Ana is struck with the certainty that she has finally met the person who can drive away her terror and put her past back together again.
